Vikram Dev Dogra spent thirty-seven years in the Indian Army, commanding The Poona Horse, an armoured brigade on the western front, and an infantry division within a strike corps. He passed out of the Indian Military Academy with both the Sword of Honour and the President's Gold Medal, saw combat in Jammu and Kashmir, and served as a United Nations military observer in Angola. In 2018, at fifty-eight, he became the first serving Indian Army officer to finish an Ironman triathlon, a discipline he later returned to and improved on. Retired from uniform, he speaks and advises on leadership, endurance and decision-making under pressure.
