India's First Blade Runner & Kargil War Veteran

Major D. P. Singh is a retired Indian Army officer and Kargil War veteran who lost his right leg to a shrapnel injury sustained at the Line of Control in July 1999. Widely known as India's first blade runner, he has completed more than 20 half-marathons on a prosthetic limb. He is also recognised as the first disabled Asian to skydive solo and to fly an aircraft, and received a National Award for the Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities in 2018.
